The Certified Paddling Aces (CPA’s), the rowing team of Coulter & Justus, dodged summer storms to race their 46-foot dragon boat on June 21. They were among 45 teams who participated in the 12th annual KARM (Knox Area Rescue Ministries) Dragon Boat Festival.

Co-captains John Young and Brannon McNeillie coordinated the CPA Team effort by recruiting over 20 rowers and raising nearly $2,000 in donations through various fundraising activities in the office. The CPA team placed third in their division. Group Boat

The team’s contribution goes toward one of the largest fundraising events held for KARM, which usually generates about $250,000. The team’s efforts will help provide life-saving programs that offer a chance at new life to thousands of men and women in the community.

The Dragon Boat Festival has become an annual tradition at Coulter & Justus, which has been participating in the event for the past eight years.  The paddling event is a fun team-building exercise that requires working together, synchronicity, and finesse — hallmarks of the working environment at Coulter & Justus.  Upcoming community events include The American Heart Association Heart Walk in September and the Buddy’s Race Against Cancer in November.
