Our culture and leadership style provides a flexible work environment and encourages social interaction among our staff. The firm hosts social events for employees and their families which last year included a Spring Fiesta celebration, a Fall Festival with “trunk or treat” for the kids, and we held our annual holiday party at the Knoxville Museum of Art. Time spent with Coulter & Justus creates lifelong friendships, both personal and professional.

Community Involvement

We are proud of our employees and how they serve our clients and community. Our people are active and involved in almost every area rotary and civic club, and they volunteer on the boards of many local not-for-profits such as Clarence Brown Theatre, Dogwood Arts Festival, Salvation Army, Leadership Knoxville and YMCA. We are involved in our local area Chambers of Commerce and are active in organizations such as Leadership Knoxville, Leadership Blount and the East Tennessee Economic Council. Our volunteer and financial support extends to our employees’ passions for local not-for-profits in ways such as corporate teams for The Race Against Cancer (Thompson Cancer Survival Center), Gladiator Games (Knoxville Leadership Foundation), Knox Area Rescue Mission Dragonboat Race, American Heart Association Heart Walk, and numerous other fundraising events.

Our Mission

At Coulter & Justus, our mission is to provide both quality professional services to clients and exceptional career opportunities to staff. We are also committed to investing in our people so that we have highly trained technical professionals with well-developed leadership skills. We provide technical training for our professionals to remain current in a complex world, more than that required for our professional certifications. We also provide soft skills training for professionals through formal in-firm programs which focus on communication and leadership skills. Our professionals also routinely participate in community based leadership programs.

As part of our ongoing philosophy, we hire experienced professionals with specialized skills and knowledge. With few exceptions, all of our staff have prior experience in our industry. They know and understand the commitment needed to serve, and they appreciate how the firm Cultureprovides a true work/life balance. It’s the primary reason our retention rate is exceptionally high for our industry.

For four of five consecutive years, Coulter & Justus has been ranked nationally by Accounting Today as one of the best mid-sized accounting firms to work for. This survey and award program was designed to identify the best employers in the accounting industry. Each firm is evaluated on their employee and workplace policies and the results of anonymous employee surveys. C&J is proud of our culture and honored to be recognized.
